It's not often that the national news media focuses on Michigan and Detroit -- especially for good news.  Now, Time Life, Inc. has purchased a house and assigned reporters from several of its media outlets, including Time, CNN, and Sports Illustrated, to dig a little deeper and find the reality behind all the negative perceptions.  Here's the rest of the story as reported in the New York Times.

One Tina Fey Just Isn't Enough

I'm running for my first political office right now -- a seat on the City Council in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  With a total of 13 othe candidates running for the 4 seats up for election, I haven't had much time for blogging.  But I had to alert anyone who checks in with me now and then about this NPR piece on the hurdles women still face to crack the world of comedy.  Here's why we need a lot more Tina Feys.
